The COVID-19 & school operations page is your starting point for status updates/announcements, resources and other information about school operations impacted by COVID-19.

Families new to the district are encouraged to begin the enrollment process before the first day of school. Visit the Enrollment page for information about required documents and where to enroll. All enrollments are being completed online at this time.


Visit the Immunizations page for information about required immunizations and immunization clinics available for applicable students.

School supplies

Many schools prepare their own supply lists and/or sell pre-packaged supplies at the school.  It is strongly recommended that parents check with their child's school before making any purchases. See our school supplies page for more information and links to the campus school supply pages.

School meals

Our Student Nutrition Services Department provides wholesome, nutritious meals for students. Visit the School meals page for information about meal prices, menus, free and reduced-price meals, breakfast programs, nutrition information and special dietary needs.

Bus transportation

Route information including bus number, stop time and stop location will be available through Skyward beginning July 26 to parents of all eligible regular and special education students. All times are approximate and there may be some delays during the first few days of school. Schedules should be adjusted to a consistent time frame by the end of the second week.

Summer assignments

Students entering certain English courses in the fall may be assigned summer reading. Check to be sure that your child is prepared.

Skyward Family Access

Skyward Family Access allows parents to see their child’s grades and attendance, as well as receive messages from teachers, view report cards, request notifications and set Skylert preferences. Special education services available / Child Find

GISD offers comprehensive special education services to eligible students from birth through twenty-one years of age. Children suspected of having a disability may be referred by contacting the appropriate resource. Find out more by visiting the Special Education Referral/Child Find page.

Counseling services

Our Counseling department is available to answer questions about graduation plans, careers, mental health, or more. You can schedule in-person visits via your campus or schedule a virtual counseling session.  They also provide information about support resources for our families:
